MONTGOMERY, Ala — The Alabama Office of Minority Affairs (AOMA) is proud to announce its sponsorship of various events and organizations in 2023, with a combined contribution of over $17,000. These sponsorships exemplify AOMA’s commitment to supporting initiatives that empower minorities, women, and promote peace and equality.

The sponsored events and organizations for 2023 include:

1. Women in Tech Luncheon hosted at the Department of the Air Force Information Technology and Cyberpower Education & Training conference.

The Women in Tech Luncheon was a dynamic event aiming to unite women from diverse sectors to celebrate their achievements and inspire one another to overcome career challenges. AOMA recognizes the importance of supporting women in technology and innovation. AOMA’s sponsorship will contribute to the impact of the Department of the Air Force’s Information Technology and Cyberpower Education & Training (DAFITC). These events play a crucial role in advancing IT and cybersecurity education and providing opportunities for minority individuals to excel in these critical fields.

2. Lil Amal

Lil Amal is a 12-foot puppet representing a 10-year-old Syrian refugee girl. She has journeyed over 9,000 km across 15 countries, spreading messages of hope and solidarity for displaced people. AOMA’s sponsorship contributed to the meaningful events that Lil Amal participates in, resonating with local communities.

3. International Peace Conference (IPC)

The International Peace Conference, hosted in Birmingham, Alabama, was dedicated to promoting peace at all levels of society. The event brought together leaders from various fields, including academia, government, public safety, religion, business, and community service. Participants shared ideas and proposed solutions to complex societal challenges, highlighting programs that make a positive impact.
