Abe Harper is the President and CEO of Harper Technologies, LLC - a “Concierge Culture” IT
Service Provider based in Mobile, AL. Harper Technologies specializes in Managed IT,
Infrastructure Services, and Data Services. “Today’s Company, Tomorrow’s Technology”
He has a specific passion for community, innovation, and leadership development and serves
with several public and private organizations throughout the region to help build a better
future.
Aside from work and community activities, Abe also has a few hobbies and tries to indulge
when things are quiet. He enjoys fishing, saltwater aquariums, traveling, and is also an
instrument rated private pilot who loves to find every reason to fly.

Dr. Carlos E. Alemán leads the Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama (HICA), a community development and advocacy organization for Latino and immigrant families in Alabama. He is also the President of the Camino Loan Fund, HICA’s emerging CDFI. In August 2020, Dr. Alemán was elected to Homewood's City Council, becoming the first Latino elected to public office in Alabama. He serves on the boards of the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA), the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, REV Birmingham, the Alabama Business Charitable Trust Fund, and Red Mountain Park.
A former faculty member at Michigan State, Agnes Scott College and Samford University, Dr. Alemán taught history and Latin American Studies. He is passionate about education, community development, and creating opportunities for others. An immigrant from Nicaragua, Dr. Alemán grew up in San Francisco. He received his BA from UC Santa Cruz and his Ph.D. in History from Michigan State University.
Dr. Douglas Lee Ragland retired as Superintendent of the Midfield City School System on September 1, 2010, after 34 years of service in education in 4 respective school systems in the state of Alabama.
During his career, he served as an Elementary and Middle School Teacher, Middle School Assistant Principal, Elementary School Principal, K-5 Personnel Coordinator, District Hearing Officer, and Superintendent of two respective School Districts.
Prior to being appointed to Superintendent of the Midfield City School System, Dr. Ragland served as Superintendent in the Greene County School System from 2004-2007. Dr. Ragland served in the Birmingham City School System as a District Hearing Officer (2003-04), K-5 Personnel Coordinator (1998-2003), Middle School Assistant Principal (1989-90), and Elementary/Middle School Teacher (1978-89).
Dr. Ragland served in the Eufaula City School System as Principal of Western Heights Elementary School from 1990-98, during which time he gained national recognition for the state of Alabama when he was selected as the 1998 Alabama National Distinguished Principal.

Dr. Ragland received his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Theology, and Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Divinity from the Touch of Love Theological Institute Bible College in Montgomery, Alabama, Doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and University of Alabama where he was named the Most Outstanding Doctoral Student in Educational Leadership. He also holds Bachelors, Masters, and Education Specialist Degrees, as well as Class A and AA Certifications, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Elementary Education and Educational Leadership.
Dr. Ragland espouses and contributes his success to the 6 P’s: Prayer, Principles, Perseverance, Patience, Progress, and Planning.
Dr. Ragland is married to Dr. Teresa W. Ragland and they reside in Birmingham, Alabama.
Erika McKay is General Counsel for the Alabama Department of Commerce. Before her time at the Alabama Department of Commerce, she served as Chief Deputy General Counsel for the Office of the Governor. Throughout her legal career Erika has been deeply involved in areas of economic development including infrastructure, workforce development, and policy.
Erika is very involved in her community and serves in the following roles: President of the Montgomery County Bar Association Women’s Section, Board member of the Montgomery County Bar Association Government Lawyers’ Section, Alabama State Bar’s Quality of Life, Health & Wellness Committee and Bench & Bar Relations Committee, Board member of the Autauga County Bar Committee, and Board member of the Advisory Board on Minority Affairs.
Erika is a native of Montgomery, and she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, International Relations and her Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama. Erika and her husband Chris recently welcomed their first child and live in Prattville.
Chief Michelle Gilmore was first elected as at-large Councilor before being appointed as Vice Chief by former Chief Ronnie Williams. She was elected as Chief in 2019. Chief Gilmore was appointed by Governor Kay Ivey of Alabama to serve as a Commissioner of the Alabama Indian Affairs Commission in 2022. Chief Gilmore was appointed by Governor Kay Ivey to the Advisory Board for the Governor's Office of Minority Affairs on April 1, 2024.
After graduating from high school Chief Gilmore entered the Paper and Printing Industry and became the first female in local market outside sales and went on to become the General Manager of a local paper company, before going on to work at the Alabama Department of Transportation and serve her Tribe. Chief Gilmore has four sons with her husband, U.S. Army Sgt. Major Gerry Gilmore, named Justin, Josh, Alex, and Max, and one grandson.
The Chief is a strong advocate for the Tribes of Alabama and has a clear vision for the Southeastern Mvskoke Nation's growth. Chief Gilmore recently appeared on a PBS/APT documentary entitled "Another River to Cross" that documents the history of the Alabama Creek Indians to raise awareness for Indigenous issues.
Born in Kenya and having lived in 4 continents, she comes with education and experiences from many cultures. Her higher Education is from UK ( radiation Therapy) Indiana University ( BA), University Alabama at Birmingham, BA in Business Administration, and Masters in Health Education.
She has worked and owned hotels for 20 years in Alabama and therefore serves on the State Tourism advisory board.
She also serves on several boards including the Business Council of Alabama, Etowah Counties Industrial Development Authority and Chamber. She currently is working to develop the Arts in her region and is on the Arts Council of Gadsden and Gadsden Museum of Arts Board of Directors
She also owns and runs Gallery at 808 where she has some 40 of her own works which exhibit the cultural diversity that she comes from. She is married to Dr G Patel for the last 45 years and is a mother of 2 and a grandmother of 4.

Dr. Suhyun Suh, an Associate Professor Emerita at Auburn University, now serves as the senior advisor of Korea Corner. Retiring in 2016 from Auburn's Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation, & Counseling, she taught for 15 years. During her tenure, she created a summer English school for newly arriving Korean families and developed a Global Studies in Education program for public school teachers, providing multicultural training including a free ten-day trip to South Korea. These efforts facilitated the adjustment of Korean families and enhanced teachers' multicultural competencies. Before her doctoral degree in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in 1996, Dr. Suh worked as a bilingual teacher in New York for four years. She was also a nationally certified counselor and served as president of the International Chapter of the Korean Counseling Association from 2012 to 2016. Upon retirement, she became the coordinator of Korea Corner, established in 2017 with support from the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Atlanta and the Office of the Vice President for University Outreach. Dr. Suh actively organizes Korean cultural events and educational programs, including the annual Korean American Grassroots Conference and the Korean Youth Leadership Development program. Moreover, Korea Corner represents Korea through various cultural activities at the annual Auburn University Global Community Day event provided by Outreach Global.
